6 Best Tips For Your Plastic Surgery Consultation.

Change.

Think deeply about the change you want to see in your body and why you want it. We recommend the MIRROR TEST. Stand in front of a mirror and look at yourself for 10 minutes honestly. Write down what you do not like and what would you like changed.

Check.

Check the internet for pictures of the ideal look that appeals to you - be it lips, waists, breasts, hair, face, nose, or any other part of your body. Save those pictures and bring them over during consultation to express what you are looking for.

Consult.

Doing your homework is an awesome first step, but not enough. Other treatments you may not know of maybe SAFER for you while being equally effective or even better. During the consult, you need to pay attention, be RECEPTIVE, and be open-minded.

Cool.

We recommend all patients not to rush into any surgery or procedures on any whims or fancies, but to approach it in a studied and considered way. Cooling off once before you commit would help you to get the best impression about surgery and its aftercare.

Commit.

Once you have done your homework on your surgery or procedure, knowing fully well about the pros and cons, commit to your surgery with hope, trust and optimism. Follow pre-operative precautions to increase the chances of the best possible results.

Care.

Aftercare is just as important as the surgery or procedure itself. You will obtain the best results of your surgery when you commit to following good aftercare. If you are unable to follow postoperative care and instructions, it's better to delay your surgery until you can do so.

What Precautions Do You Need To Take Before Your Plastic Surgery?

Better results may be expected if you follow the following general recommendations:

Personal Hygiene: Thoroughly wash body areas in and around your probable treatment area for 3 days, and preferably 1 week before surgery.

Avoid Medicines and Supplements: Some medicines are notorious to cause excessive bleeding. Avoid them for at least 1 week before surgery, and preferably 2 weeks before surgery if possible. These include Aspirin, Aspirin containing compounds, Ibuprofen, Diclofenac, Anti-inflammatory drugs, Pain killers, Vitamin E, Green tea, Ginseng, Marijuana, Herbal supplements.

Avoid Smoking: Smoking results in poor wound healing. Strict stoppage of smoking for at least 1 week before and 2 weeks after surgery is recommended. The same rule applies to Tobacco or Nicotine in any form - chewable, dermal patches, or others.

Avoid Drinking: Avoid Alcohol for at least 3 days before, and preferably 1 week before your surgery.

Precautionary Medicines: Some medicines will be prescribed for you, to be taken the night before and on the morning of surgery. Please ensure that you take them as directed.

Clothes: Wear loose comfortable clothes that are easy to put on and take off. Buttoned up shirts and elasticated waist pants are good examples of ideal clothing.

Best Appearance and Self-Esteem

Plastic surgery is a giant step forward to realize your best body shape and function. The surgery would significantly improve your appearance and make you feel good about yourself, underlying a HUGE connection between your appearance and self-esteem. You must also realize that this surgery is a serious matter and in spite of best efforts, complications may occur in some people. While the risks are high like in all surgeries, the rewards are also high to very high. It is not to be treated trivially.

Requires Realistic Expectations.

Final results depend upon a lot of factors. Best efforts by a good plastic surgeon matter enormously towards obtaining the best possible plastic surgery results. At the same time, your own aftercare efforts during the postoperative period matter a lot. Your own BODY RESPONSE is not under anyone's control, neither yours nor the doctors, and therefore it is impossible to control or predict. This makes it impossible to demand or expect any guarantees or warranties, either written or implied, about the final outcome of treatment.

6 Things You MUST DO Before Your Plastic Surgery.

Stop Smoking.

STOP smoking for at least 1 week before surgery and at least 1 week afterward. Smoking notoriously delays wound healing and increases your risk for scars. Be honest with yourself, stop smoking, and get the best possible results following your surgery.

Eat Balanced Diet.

Eat a balanced diet with high protein. Proteins are the building blocks of new tissues during your healing process. Adequate amounts of protein in the form of dairy products, soybean, cheese, egg, chicken, fish, pork, seafood, and others are vital.

Drink Adequate Water.

It is vital to stay well-hydrated. You will know if you are well-hydrated when your urine is colorless or light in color. Not drinking enough water can make you dehydrated. In severe dehydration, fluid-electrolyte imbalances occur, resulting in poor healing.

Stop Drinking.

Alcohol dehydrates both body and skin, decreasing overall health and resulting in poor wound healing. While your wound is healing, please avoid alcohol, heavily caffeinated drinks, and highly concentrated fruit juices, or other such drinks that may dehydrate you.

Control Your Weight.

Obese and even overweight people have serious issues with wound healing, resulting in the opening up of the surgical wound and bad scar formation. Too much fat underneath the skin results in lesser blood supply to the wound edges and bad wound healing.

Exercise. Stop Anxieties.

An active lifestyle, hitting the gym, having a controlled diet, regular exercises, etc may be a good idea to get the best possible results after your surgery. Overthinking results in undue anxiety and sleeplessness, which would ultimately hamper healing.

Can There Be Complications With Your Plastic Surgery?

All types of surgery are "high risk, high reward" procedures, and thus carry some inherent risk. Plastic surgery is no exception. Different people have different genetic mechanisms and body reactions that affect their ability to heal after surgery.

Best plastic surgeons like Dr. Srinjoy Saha take all these factors into account before planning your surgery. He devises treatment plans in a mostly foolproof way so that you heal well and with minimal complications. Having said that, there are no guarantees or warranties in any type of plastic surgery or cosmetic procedure.

Depending on your type of surgery and your overall health condition, the following is a list of the most common risks and complications associated with any plastic surgery:

~ Infection. Pus formation. Sepsis.

~ Excessive bleeding. Hemorrhage. Hematoma.

~ Bruising. Darkened areas, mostly temporary.

~ Difficulty in wound healing. Wound dehiscence.

~ Blackening or necrosis of skin margins.

~ Scarring problems - atrophic or hypertrophic scars.

~ Pigmentation problems - hypo-pigmentation (more whitish) or hyper-pigmentation (more blackish).

~ Anesthesia problems like nausea, vomiting, giddiness, light-headedness, sore throat, etc.

~ Other problems that are specific to the type of plastic surgery you are planning to undertake.

Can I See Before And After Photos And Videos of Plastic Surgery?

Of course! There are plenty of clinical photos and videos which highlight life-changing moments ushered in by plastic surgery. You will be shown these photos and videos during your consultation. Every year, more and more people hope to get a flatter tummy, larger or smaller bust, reshaped nose, face, or chin - essentially a better version of who you are in your dreams. Plastic surgery reaches out to all people to make lives better. Some of these photos and videos may include frontal nudity, and thus would not suitable for viewing by all visitors. All our published photos will be processed to protect the identity of patients and they will be added to this website gradually. Please feel free to follow their links, see and decide!

6 Ways To Get BETTER SCARS After Your Surgery.

Take Adequate Rest.

Adequate rest to the healing part is vital for proper wound healing. Exhaustion slows down healing. If you are asked to take a rest for a few weeks, please follow that advice. Avoid thinking that you know better while ignoring the doctor's advice and following your own impulses, whims, and fancies.

Avoid Stress On Incisions.

Any type of stress on your incision line that stretches or puts tension to that area should be avoided at all costs. Stress on wound margins pulls the incision apart, delays healing, stretches the scar, and leads to hypertrophic scar formation. Care and caution for the first 3 months is helpful.

Take Proper Wound Care.

Proper wound care is the single most important determinant to good wound healing and to prevent bad scar formation. Regular cleaning and proper dressing to care for the wound, avoiding injury to the incision site, preventing infection, and other general incision care techniques are essential.

Treat Any Wound Infections Quickly.

Signs of wound infection include (1) expanding redness around the wound, (2) yellowish or greenish colored pus or cloudy wound drainage, (3) red streak marks spreading out from the wound edges, (4) increased swelling, pain, or tenderness around the wound, (5) fever.

Treat All Underlying Diseases.

Many underlying illnesses slow and impair healing. Diabetes, Thyroid problems, Connective tissue disorders, Autoimmune disorders, etc are notorious to delay wound healing, open up wounds and cause poor scars. Diagnosing and treating them before your surgery is vital.

Avoid Sunlight Exposure For Few Months.

Healing scars are extremely sensitive to brownish discoloration along the edges following exposure to Sunlight and any form of Ultraviolet light. Applying a good sunscreen with a high sun protection factor of SPF 30-50 and adequately cover healing scars will ultimately benefit you.
